Through Covid, we lost our 2-day a week administrator, Ardleigh, to explore her next adventure. She has a hobby with floristry so don’t be surprised to see her pop up again!

Ardleigh’s vacant role allowed us to scope a new role for our team and we have been soooo lucky to find Nell Shephard. Nell is the super smiling face that will greet you on arrival, and her 4-day a week role means Nell is helping out in many areas of our business. To have our team grow through Covid was unexpected, as Nell is 1 of 2 new team members. Everyone say hi!

Google to auto-delete search data after 18 months

Google announced broad changes in its default data practices for new users. Google’s auto-delete feature applies to search history, location history, and voice commands collected through the Google Assistant or devices like Google Home.

Google logs that data in its My Activity page, where users can see what data points have been collected and manually delete specific items. Historically, Google has retained that information indefinitely, but in 2019, they’ve rolled out a way to automatically delete data points after three months or 18 months, depending on the chosen setting.

Starting a few weeks ago, those settings will be on by default for new users only (existing accounts won’t see any settings change). Google will set web and app searches to auto-delete after 18 months even if users take no action at all. Google’s location history is off by default, but when users turn it on, it will also default to an 18-month deletion schedule. Auto-delete can be turned on from the Activity Controls page.

It’s the start of a compromise from Google as our data concerns continue to rise, and 18 months of data is plenty for Google to determine the value of their advertising solutions and targeting capabilities.

Myths of the Instagram Algorithm

The ways of Instagram are constantly changing and staying up to date can be difficult. The key components of the algorithm were confirmed by Instagram recently, 📈and here’s what you need to know:

  • Instagram delivers a unique feed to every user based on the content they engage with. So, if you see drops in engagement, that could be an algorithm change, but often, the dip could just be because your content is no longer appealing.
  • Insta also doesn’t favour photos over 📹videos. The feed is customized on what people engage with most, so if you watch more videos, you’ll see more videos in your feed.
  • It doesn’t matter if you are using a Personal, Business or Creator account. They are all treated equally (but if you want insights you must have a Business or Creator account).
  • Instagram Pods are a waste of time
  • All comments 💬 are treated equally, regardless of how many words they contain.
  • Getting lots of engagement the first 30 minutes after posting to Instagram doesn’t catapult your post to the top of the feed.

Eschalot is back!

A delectable menu, nourishing atmosphere, and an abundant kitchen 🥦 garden eschalot restaurant 🍅at Berrima is an iconic pocket of deliciousness loved by both locals and visitors alike.

Shared with one of the most historic buildings in the Southern Highlands, a fusion of history and modern new tones has breathed new life into the interiors of the restaurant… 🥩and the same goes for their new website!

Inspired by the midnight blue walls of the dining room, we had oh so much fun developing their beautiful new site. Liz had a field day writing the copy, indulging in 🍷mouth-watering language that best portrays the #eschalot experience. We also devised a localised marketing plan that could be implemented by eschalot themselves.

You can now book online via the website so head to the website and treat your tastebuds. Bookings are essential!

Happy Hues – Curated Colour Palettes

If you’re up for designing a new website or email marketing template, or perhaps looking for some complementary colours, then this site is for you 🎨. Happy Hues is a color palette inspiration site that acts as a real-world example as to how the colors could be used in your design projects. You can learn the terminology and psychology of color, whilst saving your colour hex codes to your clipboard as you craft your new design.

It’s super easy to use and quite fun. Very helpful if you struggle to put a base down for your design work.

Until next time, enjoy! 😀
